Start Up Barbecue!
This coming Sunday, September 17th, we are hosting a Welcome Back Barbecue after the 10am service. The church will provide hamburgers and hotdogs (veggie options available) and you are invited to bring a salad or chips or dessert or drinks… something to share!
And at the 10am service, we’ll be doing things bit differently as we welcome children and families to participate fully in preaching and worship. Our bible reading & sermon time will be a dramatic re-enactment of the story of the parting of the Red Sea. And our eucharist will be done picnic style with the children helping me bless and distribute the bread and wine. Come one come all!
Spiritual Practice Retreat: Reconciliation Walk
Join me at the Church on the last Saturday of the month, Saturday, September 30 1pm-4:30 for a special retreat to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. At 1pm we’ll gather and pray and then watch a documentary on reconciliation in Canada. Following this at 2:30, we’ll head outside and cross the highway to walk through the Doubleday Arboretum pausing to remember, pray, and cultivate hope for the future. We’ll gather back at the church at 4pm for Sung Evening Prayer.
Fall Sale at the Church
This year’s Fall Sale will be on Saturday, October 14th from 9am-2pm. The Sale will be more like a market this year, with some outside vendors participating. We’ll also have a table for the Church’s attic treasures, and a repair-service table with Rob & Andrew, so bring any items you’d like to have repaired. And, of course, there will also be food on offer!
We are having another planning meeting on Thursday, September 21st at 11am in the Church! If you would like to help plan and organize the Fall Sale, please come to this meeting!
Care Home Ministry
We continue on with our Care Home services. October dates are: Harrison Landing, Wednesday, October 11, 2pm; and Harrison Pointe, Thursday, October 26, 2pm.
We’ve been a little short on volunteers from the congregation at the Care Home services. Please consider if this a ministry you are able to support, and speak to me if you would like to come and meet our friends at Harrison Pointe and Harrison Landing.
As always, please let me know if you or anyone you know would like a visit from the clergy!
Love from,
Andrew
