Newsletter: Getting started, again...
Warm wishes to you all in this month of January. I always find January a bit difficult to get through because the days are still short, and so it’s dark in the morning and dark in the evening, but it’s also very busy because you have to catch up on all the things that didn’t get done over Christmas break. I hope that you are all taking some time in the middle of the day to get outside and get some sunshine. The days are getting longer and soon enough Lent and Easter will be upon us.
Just a quick reminder that things have started up again. Tuesday Bible Study is on Zoom at 7pm. The link is the same one as for Sunday worship. And Thursday mornings are back on too. The church is open for contemplative prayer / quiet meditation at 9:30am, and then we have Eucharist with anointing at 10am. Bible Study starts at approximately 10:45, and Penny usually provides coffee and snacks.
Yoga is back on as well on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. Attendance at yoga is down a bit and the wardens and I are wondering about the ongoing financial viability of offering yoga. If you have a friend who wants to come to yoga and pay just $10 for really excellent instruction, now is the time to invite them! It would be great to have 8-10 people coming to yoga weekly.
Keep your eyes and ears open for news about our Annual Vestry Meeting. For those who are new to the Anglican Church, this is the meeting where we elect the parish council, pass the annual budget, and dream about God’s vision for ministry in Langley City. The meeting is currently scheduled for February 26th after the 10am service. Mark your calendars! There will be a Zoom option for those who don’t want to attend in person.
And please say a prayer for me tomorrow (Saturday). Joanne from the daycare and I are scheduled to meet with Nathan who is the new mayor of Langley City to discuss what the church can do to help the City address the situation of people without homes or shelter in our community. It feels like the church has had a bit of a fraught relationship with the City in the past, so I’m interested to see if a new mayor wants to talk about new opportunities to work together.
Please do drop us a line at the church to let us know how you are doing!
With love,
Andrew
