Newsletter: We survived the first week of August!

Once again, we humbly thank our volunteers and parish members for creating a warm, loving sense of community week upon week. Your kindness and efforts don’t go unnoticed!

Here at St. Andrew’s, we’re mindful of the work and impact of the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF), which “works toward a truly just, healthy and peaceful world by responding to relief and development needs on behalf of the Anglican Church of Canada.” In addition to their international humanitarian efforts, PWRDF has an In-Canada Emergency Fund that can be accessed for emergency accommodations, gift cards to purchase food, water and essentials, counselling and post-trauma supports, or locally identified long-term recovery activities to rebuild community assets and increase community resilience - BC’s wildfires come to mind…We continue to hold in prayer, those affected by wildfires, hurricanes, and war, and refugees.

On another note, have you thought about bringing someone new to church? We invite new members to join our warm, welcoming community and look forward to sharing more about what we do for every age and stage here at St. Andrew’s. Stay tuned for updates to the website and take-home pamphlets about “what we do.”

What’s on this week?

Please join us again for Thursday Healing Eucharist at 11am, if you are in need of healing prayers for yourself or someone you love.

Care Home Ministry

Services will be:

August 14 at Harrison Landing (2pm)

August 15 at Harrison Pointe (2pm)

The PWRDF Board is committed to playing a key role to raise $65,000 to mark PWRDF’s 65 years of programming and partnership, including a commitment to support refugees and displaced people. That includes promoting but also participating in ways to raise funds to support refugees and internally displaced people in Gaza, Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Sudan, Jordan, Ukraine and more. Support board members and support participants across Canada as they walk, cycle, roller blade, bake, read, knit, crochet, swim, kayak, canoe, dance and sing – or any other activity by which to sustain and strengthen the support of PWRDF and our partners to contribute to providing safety and dignity for refugees and displaced people and families. Go to PWRDF.ORG for more information.

As always, please let me know if you or anyone you know would like a visit from the clergy!

Love from,

Andrew
