Newsletter: The second half of May...

The second half of May is looking to be much calmer for me than the first half was!
I was at clergy conference in Whistler this past week. Our topic was ‘Creating Creation Care teams in the church.’ If anyone at St Andrew’s is interested in learning more about this, please speak to me after the service.
Our first ever Boot Sale is tomorrow morning (Saturday) from 9am-2pm. Please plan on stopping by just to offer your support to Rosemary, Judi and all the volunteers… and spend some money if you feel so inclined! Thanks to everybody who has worked so hard to make this happen.
And please plan on attending the Vaudevillians Show on May 25th. Their shows are always tons of fun with singing, dancing, and MC extraordinaire Judi on the mic.
Update on Roof Project from Stuart
Parish Council has now approved up to an $80,000 expenditure for the replacement of our metal roof and repair of the skylight. We have hired two contractors to do this work beginning after July 1. We are pleased to let you know that we have been able to reduce the cost of the project from our original estimate by finding someone who can repair the existing 40-year-old skylight rather than us needing to replace it. With the reduced cost, we should now be able to pay for the repairs without borrowing any money from the Diocese. We are still planning on receiving a Diocesan grant of $10,000. Your support and contributions to our capital building fund are still needed to help us to rebuild the fund after the project has been paid for later this summer.
The most cost effective new pianos available cost somewhere in the realm of $55,000 - $60,000. We have raised over $10,000 so far. Help us get to $15,000! Please consider if you are able to donate.
Please make sure that your name and/or offering number are clearly marked on your envelopes!
Tuesday Bible Study starts up again this Tuesday, May 21st. We’ll continue on until the end of June, or whenever people stop coming.
The Knitting Group will meet this Wednesday, May 22nd, at 1pm. Come join in and meet some new and not-so-new faces!
The Thursday Healing Eucharist is on this week. Please come if you are in need of healing prayers for yourself or someone you love. Thursday bible study is on an indefinite hiatus.
As always, please let me know if you or anyone you know would like a visit from the clergy!
Love from,
Andrew
