May is turning out to be a busier month than I anticipated!
This week we had a clergy day to discuss MAiD or Medical Assistance in Dying. This was not a conversation about whether MAiD is good or bad, but rather a conversation about how clergy can best support and care for people who are choosing MAiD, their families, and the medical professionals who are involved. If you would like to talk about this with me, please know that I am open to that conversation in a very non-judgmental way.
This weekend and next, I will be performing with the Langley Chorus. If you are interested in tickets, please click here:
Next Saturday, May 11th, is the Diocesan Mission Conference at St Mark’s, Ocean Park. The conference will be looking at land use and property development, and since we are starting that conversation ourselves, it would be great if a couple of members here could go.
And then, from the 12th to the 15th I will be a Clergy Conference in Whistler!
I’ll be looking forward to a relaxing summer.
The most cost effective new pianos available cost somewhere in the realm of $55,000 - $60,000. We are somewhere between $7000 and $8000 towards to new piano. Please consider if you are able to donate!
Please make sure that your name and/or offering number are clearly marked on your envelopes!
The Diocesan Mission Conference is on May 11th at St Mark’s, Ocean Park. The theme of this conference is ‘Toward a Theology of Land’ and includes a number of speakers talking about land from various perspectives including: the Hebrew Bible, Indigenous perspectives, and land use/property development opportunities particularly to address housing and homelessness. This is a great chance to get a sense of how our Diocese and all of our parishes can use our land and property to serve the needy of the world. Please speak to me if you are interested in this opportunity. It would be great to have two or three people from our parish in attendance.
Tuesday Bible Study will have one more session on April 30 and will then break for a few weeks. We’ll start up again on May 21st.
The Thursday Healing Eucharist is on this week. Please come if you are in need of healing prayers for yourself or someone you love. Thursday bible study is on an indefinite hiatus.
As always, please let me know if you or anyone you know would like a visit from the clergy!
Love from,
Andrew
