Moving Sunday worship to the Hall
St Andrew’s ‘Café Church’, Spring/Summer 2022
Beginning on Sunday May 15th, the St Andrew’s congregation will move from worshipping in the church Sanctuary to worshipping in the church hall to give us time to prepare the Sanctuary for upcoming renovations. This change will last for up to 12 weeks until the end of July (or until the renovations to the Sanctuary are completed).
For Café Church, we will leave the hall set up as it is for coffee time and will add more chairs if that becomes necessary. We will move a lot of the Sound equipment (including the computers for Zoom) into the hall but will pack the projectors away and use TV monitors to display the service. The regular service bulletin will also be available. We will also move the small credence table (which we will use as the altar), the lectern, and the wooden music stand to the hall. The electric piano is already there. All these items will be stored in the little storage room in the hallway during the week so as to not interfere with regularly scheduled programming.
The current tentative schedule for renovation is as follows:
May 14 – removal of the altar platform
Late May – tidying and organizing all our stuff so that renovations can proceed
Early June – electrical work to prepare for floor polishing
Early to mid-June – floor polishing
Late June / early July – painting
Late June / early July – electrical work related to the lighting and AV set up
Early to mid-July – we move back into our newly renovated Sanctuary

The Saturday practice for May will be:
May 28 4:30 pm. A World Full of Wonder: Spiritual Practices from Evolution and Ecology – Facilitated by Rev. Cameron Gutjahr.
Science and religion have much in common; at their best, they are disciplines that encourage curiosity, wonder and delight – spaces that are open for asking questions and exploring connection and relationship. Together, over the course of this evening, we will pray with phylogenetic trees, meditate with microscopic organisms, and reflect on the relationships that connect us to all living things, and ultimately, to God.
Cameron is a priest of St. John the Divine Anglican Church in beautiful Squamish, BC. He has a Master of Divinity at Huron University in London Ontario, after a BSc, with a focus on evolution and ecology, at UBC in Vancouver.
