Newsletter: What's happening in November?

November at St. Andrew’s

Thanks to everyone’s fundraising and hard efforts, we have acquired a new-to-us piano. Our pianists’ fingers will be happy, and so will our community partners who host their amazing concerts and recitals here at St. Andrew’s! Your point of contact for all things piano-related will be Maureen Hollins, our choir director. Please heed any signs left in and around the piano/piano bench as we let it settle in.

The Vancouver Orpheus Male Choir’s We Remember concert is coming up quickly, on Monday, November 11th; stop by the office for tickets! Feel like sharing light refreshments for intermission? Please feel free to bring goodies to share at the concert!

We are still collecting donations for the Silent Auction being held at the concert, if you or someone you know would like to contribute! These funds will help us enhance at least two of our Ministries: Family & Children (outreach) and Music & Worship.

There is an in-person event at St. Dunstan’s on November 7th at 7pm called Feeding Our Spirit: All You Who Are Thirsty with special guest speaker, Alvin Kube, where folks will explore “our relationship to water: our need and our privilege.” To register, and for more information, click here. Ellen, a lovely member of our parish, will be attending if anyone is interested in carpooling from Langley to Aldergrove!

Please remember NOT to log in for Bible Study, since it is on hiatus, and will restart on November 26th at 7pm.

Advent Quiet Day Retreat at St. Andrew’s will be on November 30th, and the theme is “Journeying to Joy,” where will will reflect on the Advent spiritual journeys of John the Baptist and of Mary, Jesus’ mother. We’ll close with sung evening prayer. Please register by e-mail parishadmin@standrewslangley.ca or phone 604-534-6514.

Be sure to check out “What’s on weekly…” for future updates.

LGBT+ Coffee & Conversation Evening: Nov 12 at 7pm

In-person @ St. Thomas in Chilliwack

St Thomas is committed to welcome, engage, and support LGBTQ+ community as alley's. Being a Pride Chilliwack the past 2 summers has been a highlight! We host 2 open conversation evenings each year to connect, learn, and grow together. We've had Stacey Chomiak share her published work "Still Stace" and Rev. David Taylor offer his story thought music. Both have been remarkable evenings of sharing hearts and healing together. This term we have Rev. Andrew Halladay coming to share his story.

Andrew's journey as a queer leader in the Christian Church began in Prince George BC when he saw a rainbow flag hanging outside of St Michael & All Angels Anglican church. Through music, especially the church choir, and performance, Andrew transitioned from stumbling into Sunday morning service after a long Saturday night into a priesthood that welcomes all to participate in the life of the church. Andrew will tell his story through teaching some of his favourite songs and acting out some of the gospel stories. Prepare to sing and move and participate in the priesthood of all believers.

No fee. Please REGISTER HERE if possible or just drop in!

Get your tickets at the office when you come in for our weekly services, or during office hours!

As always, please let me know if you or anyone you know would like a visit from the clergy!

Love from,

Andrew
